The Eugene O'Neill Theatre Project was originally built to the designs of Herbert Krapp in his signature Adam style interior. The goal of this project was to restore the theatre as much as possible to its original design, while incorporating requirements for contemporary theatre use. The theatre's delicate Adamesque Key features were restored. The subtle adaptation of the original color scheme of golds and purples resulted in a palette rich in golds and violets with accents of terra cotta and soft green. Theatre lighting, seating, carpet, drapery and cast iron railings were replicated in the period style. The lobby was renewed with the installation of a terrazzo floor and installation of marble and plaster ornamentation all within the warm golden and violet hues of the decorative palette.
