Restoration designs included the re-creation of the decorative plaster box valance; hand painted stencils and murals, application of gilt and glazing and restoration of original chandeliers. FRA's proposal to remove the mid-20th Century light box and extend the mezzanine one row, into the space of the former light box, met with the approval of the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission. This modification re-created original architectural detailing. It also created a more intimate house by drawing the audience and actors closer together. Patron amenities were redesigned and the lounge was redefined with the creation of a two-sided bar.
